My Focus

My Background

My Background

I want to ensure that Lexington grows with intention in a way that preserves our history and farmland but allows our neighbors to live affordably. And as a mother, I want to make sure that our community is safe for our babies. This means not only fully funding public safety, but funding after school programming and prevention programs, detention alternatives, and youth employment programs.

A proud gradatuon of the University of Kentucky's College of Education, I have called Lexington home

A proud graduate of the University of Kentucky's College of Education, I have called Lexington home for 27 years. From 2017-2022, I served on the Fayette County Public Schools Board of Education. Under my leadershp we founded the Fayette Education Foundation, an independent nonprofit raising private funds to ensure public schools, educators, and students have the resources they need.

I am the Executive Director of KORE Academy, a neurodiverse affirming school in Lexington. I also founded and own Spires Strategies, an educational consulting firm that provides educational support to families as well as training and resources for schools and organizations that serve families.

I am the mom of five and was a foster parent for 11 years. I continue to train and support foster families through Adoption Support Kentucky at the University of Kentucky. I have testified before the Kentucky General Assembly on several occasions advocating for Kentucky’s children. Much of my advocacy has been around youth homelessness, education, and mental health. I currently serve on the Lexington Children’s Museum Board of Directors and as the PTSA President at Lex Middle School (formerly LTMS), and on Kentucky’s Juvenile Justice Advisory Board.
